Comic Book, Trade Paperback, Graphic Novel? What's the difference??

A good (non-geek) friend of mine that enjoys geekery and strange entertainments asked me to give her an understanding of what the differences are between as comic book and a graphic novel.  That's what I'll help explain in this post!
